MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Engineers and ranges from 1-16. This rating tells you how effective your air filter will be.
The higher the MERV rating, the smaller the particles of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria and other airborne contaminants it can filter out. A MERV 16 filter can capture more than 95% of particles.
